Discription:
An All-American small town
living to the music of the 30's and 40's during the mid-eighties.
Everyone has an important place in town society, even the town whore.
You can pass through, but you can’t say unless someone dies. Then
you can take their place, their name, and their family. You might be the
mechanic, or the rich man, or the town drunk. The only thing for
sure, if you stay, is someone will take your place.
Mark is fueled with teenage confusion
and anger. His home is dysfunctional. He has driven his car
as far as it would go, three miles south of Utopia, Oklahoma. The
town seems to be in some kind of time warp, but everyone is friendly.
Billy, the town mechanic, strikes up a friendship with Mark and discovers
Mark “...likes to work on them old cars.” Soon everyone strikes up
a real friendship with Mark, especially Loretta, the town whore.
Billy is dying. There is a place for Mark in Utopia, Oklahoma.
